Choosing the right legal structure — sole trader, IKE, EE, OE or SA — is the most critical step, as it directly affects your taxation, insurance contributions and liabilities. Personal income tax returns are submitted every year from 15 March to 15 July via myAADE. If you participate in a company with single-entry books, the deadline extends to 31 July. Tax is paid in 8 monthly instalments, with the first due by 31 July.

If you are a tax resident abroad and have income of Greek origin — from rentals, business activity or property sale — you are required to file a tax return in Greece. To do this, you need a Greek tax number and, mandatorily, a tax representative in Greece.
